Hearing Aid Consultation:
We firmly believe that the best consumer is an informed
consumer. This is particularly true when it comes to selecting a hearing
aid and a hearing aid dispenser. There are literally hundreds of makes
and models of hearing aids, and newspaper ads for hearing aids can be
confusing when trying to compare prices, hearing aid features and dispenser
services. Audioscope is pleased to offer a complimentary hearing aid consultation
to help you understand hearing aids in general, the differences between
them, features that may be beneficial to you, pricing and California laws
governing hearing aid sales.
It
is important to remember there is no "best" hearing aid. Most
of the hearing aid manufacturers have models with similar functions, sound
and features. This is not unlike automobiles -- they all perform a similar
function in a similar way, but some have extra cargo space, others go
faster, one might have a "luxury" feature you desire, or you
may only need a basic transportation car. At Audioscope we feel the "best"
hearing aid is the one that fits your lifestyle and meets your communication
needs within your budget. We will discuss with you your hearing loss,
your assessment of your hearing problems, communication needs, listening
environments, daily activities, financial concerns and any special considerations
to help you decide what style of hearing aid, hearing aid circuitry and
additional features might be best suited to your needs. Once this has
been determined you will be given a written quote specifying at least
one make and model of hearing aid that most closely matches these specifications.
There is no fee for this consultation and you are under no obligation
or pressure to make a decision regarding a hearing aid purchase. In fact,
we encourage you to do some comparison shopping -- not only on the price
but on the quality and professionalism of the hearing aid dispenser as
well!
It is helpful to bring a copy of any hearing
tests you have had so we can review them with you. Records of previous
hearing tests are useful in discussing the rate of progression of the
hearing loss and in anticipating future hearing levels. If you do not
have a recent test we will be happy to perform a complimentary hearing
screening. It is also a good idea to bring along "significant others"
to participate in the discussion -- after all, they live with your hearing
loss, too. You will all leave with a better understanding of hearing loss
and hearing aids, making you better prepared to take that first step toward
improving your quality of life through better hearing.
